INTERNATIONAL charity WaterAid is to sponsor the popular Ladies Night fixture at Ayr Racecourse on Saturday August 11 for the second year in succession.
More than 6,500 attended last year's race night, the first time WaterAid had been sponsors, and its expected even more will attend this time round.
WaterAid's mission is to overcome poverty by enabling the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.
Josephine McLaughlin, Manager Regional Development Scotland & Northern Ireland WaterAid, said : "Water and sanitation are human rights vital to reduce poverty around the world. These essential services are the building blocks for all other development - improving health, education and people's livelihoods
"WaterAid's work has helped over 9.5 million people, helping to prevent deaths and the spread of disease and dramatically improving the quality of people's lives. Our partners also replicate this work reaching many more people every year
"WaterAid also uses its experience, research and good practice to influence decision-makers on water and sanitation issues. This work is changing policies and practices that impact upon the lives of millions around the world, helping more of the world's poorest people gain access to life's most basic needs-safe water and sanitation''
Ayr Racecourse's Marketing Manager Lindsey Smith added : "We are delighted that WaterAid has chosen to be associated with Ayr Ladies Night again.
"On a night when so many people enjoy themselves at a really glamorous occasion it does no harm to think of people less fortunate than ourselves and WaterAid do so much good work in poorer countries.
"I would like to think that many of those attending Ladies Night in August will decide to help WaterAid in whatever way they can."
Ayr Ladies Night is the fastest growing fixture attendance wise in the racing calendar at Ayr and ladies who are judged the best dressed are awarded a silver coin which guarantees them a place in Ladies Day Final on Friday September 21.
On that day the best ever prizes of any Ladies competition held at a British racecourse are on offer.
This year the star prize is a silver metallic Audi A3 1.6 sports finished in black leather courtesy of the Ingram Motoring Group.
Second prize is a perfect diamond valued at £2,500 courtesy of Oghams of Ayr and Edinburgh and third prize is a luxury trip for two to Dubai for three nights courtesy of Stewart Travel.
Advance tickets are on sale by calling 0870-8505666 or by going online at www.ayr-racecourse.co.uk and you will receive 10% off tickets booked seven or more days in advance or 20% discount for parties of 20 or more.
