Neil's Legacy ridden by Greg Fairley wins the Weatherbys Printing Handicap Stakes

SUN SHINES ON LUCKY LINDA

LINDA Perratt was celebrating at sun drenched Ayr racecourse on Monday when her filly Neil's Legacy landed a second win from her last three starts under apprentice Greg Fairley.

The five year-old, owned by Prestwick couple Terry and Linda Pardoe, followed up a success at her local track earlier in the month and was a convincing three length winner from Ballyhurry at odds of 5/1 in the Weatherbys Printing Handicap.

The feature race of the day, the Weatherbys Bank Fillies Handicap went the way of Dorn Dancer (7/2 fav) for trainer David Barker and jockey Pat Cosgrave. The five year old filly held on gamely by a head from Linda Green (9/2).

Footballer turned racehorse trainer Mick Channon sent five horses on the near 800 mile round trip from his West Isley stables and he was rewarded with a win for Silca Key (5/1) in the Betfair Today Handicap. This was an exciting affair with the winner holding on by a neck from Jibajaba (9/2 jt fav).

There was an even closer finish in the Karen Kaye 50 Today Handicap with the Jim Goldie trained Compton Classic (10/1) a short head winner in the hands of Gary Bartley from the 9/2 favourite Divine Spirit.

The world famous Sheikh Mohammed colours were carried to victory in the opening race, the William & Mandy Murdoch Median Auction Maiden Stakes by Gothenburg for trainer Mark Johnston. The highly experienced jockey Joe Fanning steered the 10/11 favourite to a comfortable two length win over Nawaaff (3/1).

The other winners on the card were Rainbow Fox (12/1) for trainer-jockey combination Richard Fahey and Paul Hanagan in the Rectangle Group Handicap and the Michael Dods trained Charles Parnell (7/1) under Phillip Makin in the Kidzplay Handicap.
