TREBLE FOR RAYMOND ANDERSON GREEN
Tuesday November 27, 2007
PERTH based owner Raymond Anderson Green was the happiest man at Ayr Racecourse on Monday when he landed a 1,784/1 treble.
The famous green colours with the yellow sash were carried to victory by Millie The Filly at odds of 20/1 in the opening race, the Book Now For the Scottish Grand National Conditional Jockeys Handicap Hurdle. Given a good ride by Jenny Riding the four year old filly, trained by Peter Monteith, won by seven lengths from Topaz Lady.
Green's second winner came courtesy of 16/1 shot Rathowen, trained by George Charlton and ridden by Jan Faltejsek in the Kidzplay Beginners Chase. The gelding had been off the course for more than a year but wore down Ballyvoge to win by five lengths.
And Green's hat trick of wins was completed by Polyphon, 4/1 joint favourite in the Dawn Homes At Kilmarnock Handicap Hurdle. Ridden by Graham Lee and trained by Peter Monteith the gelding won by an emphatic nine lengths from Pay On.
Tony Dobbin has been riding winners at Ayr for many years now and grabbed another with 10/11 shot Viking Rebel, trained by Nicky Richards, in Division One of the 2nd January Is Happy New Year Raceday Novice Hurdle.
Division Two of the race went to Rodrigo Gonzalez (12/1), ridden by Warren Marston and trained by Martin Keighley who was having his first runners at Ayr after making the 314 mile journey from his Cheltenham stables.
Uplawmoor trainer Jim Goldie saddled 7/2 favourite Endless Power to win the feature race, the Subscribe Online@racinguk.tv Handicap Chase. Ridden by Richard McGrath the seven year old made all to win by three and a half lengths from First Look.
McGrath made it a double on the day on board Killyglen (33/1) in the final race, the Coral Scottish Grand National April 19 National Hunt Flat Race.
The next meeting at Ayr is on Wednesday December 5 with the first race at 12.30 pm. Advance tickets are on sale with 10 % discount for single bookings or 20 % for parties of 20 or more. Both offers are subject to bookings being made seven or more days in advance. Simply go online at www.ayr-racecourse.co.uk or call 0870-8505666.
